Art Nouveau

The sinuous styles of Art Nouveau evoke thoughts of bohemian evenings, discussion about theatre and art – and a change from the styles of the past.

The influence of the Far East showed in new jewellery with use of insects such as dragon flies in design, opals becoming more prominent – in essence the style and design of the artists taking over from a pure focus on highlighting gemstones. Silver pieces, as an alternative to platinum allowed those diamonds and pearls to become more accessible – in a very wearable and attractive way.

All of which appeals to Miss Boggitt.  Not that she doesn’t like being presented with the odd diamond or three but she does have an eye for a good design, and Art Nouveau’s flowing lines made jewellery far more sensuous – something that works just as well today as it did in 1900.
